A simple and vibrant sautéed broccolini dish infused with fresh garlic, red pepper flakes, and brightened with fresh lemon juice. This quick recipe yields tender, flavorful broccolini that’s perfect as a healthy side or light snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Broccolini Sauté

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/41/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 bunches broccolini, trimmed and halved lengthwise if thick (about 12 ounces)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil and Sauté Garlic: Warm 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of sea salt. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  2. Add Broccolini and Toss: Add the trimmed broccolini to the skillet along with another pinch of salt. Gently toss for 1 to 2 minutes to coat the broccolini evenly in the oil and garlic.
  3. Steam the Broccolini: Pour in 1/4 cup of water, cover the pan with a lid, and let cook for 8 to 10 minutes, tossing occasionally. This steaming process softens the broccolini stems while keeping them vibrant green.
  4. Finish with Lemon and Season: Remove the pan from heat, toss the broccolini with 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, and season to taste with additional salt if desired.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately, optionally garnished with extra lemon slices and grated Parmesan cheese for added flavor.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overcook the broccolini to maintain its vibrant green color and crisp texture.
  • Red pepper flakes provide subtle heat but can be adjusted or omitted for a milder flavor.
  • For a cheesy touch, sprinkle Parmesan cheese before serving.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled meats or as part of a vegetarian meal.
