4.7 from 14 reviews

These Maid Rite Sliders are classic American comfort food—flavorful ground beef sautéed with onions, simmered in a savory sweet sauce, then layered onto soft slider buns with pickles and melted American cheese. Brushed with a buttery brown sugar glaze and baked to perfection, they make an irresistible party appetizer or a fun family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Slider Mixture

  • 1 lb. Ground beef
  • ½ Onion, minced
  • ½ cup Water
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Beef bouillon cube
  • ⅓ cup Dill pickle slices
  • 6 slices American cheese

Slider Buns and Topping

  • 12 Slider buns
  • ½ cup Butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Cook ground beef and onions: In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and minced onions. Sauté until the beef is browned and the onions become tender. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Simmer with sauce: Stir in water, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and the beef bouillon cube into the skillet with the beef and onions. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated and the mixture thickens.
  4. Assemble sliders: Lightly grease a baking dish. Place only the bottom halves of the slider buns in the dish, then layer the beef mixture evenly on top. Add dill pickle slices, followed by slices of American cheese.
  5. Add bun tops: Place the tops of the slider buns over the cheese layer to enclose the filling.
  6. Prepare and brush butter glaze: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and brush this glaze generously onto the tops of the slider buns.
  7. Bake the sliders: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the buns to toast slightly. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Make sure to drain excess fat after browning the ground beef for a less greasy slider.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika to the beef while cooking.
  • If you prefer a sharper cheese flavor, swap American cheese with cheddar or Swiss cheese.
  • These sliders are best served fresh but can be refrigerated and reheated gently to keep them moist.
