Tips & Variations

  • Use a flavorful beer like an amber ale or lager to enhance the bread’s taste.
  • Add chopped fresh herbs such as rosemary or chives for extra aroma.
  • For a dairy-free option, omit the cheddar cheese and use a plant-based butter substitute for the honey butter.
  • If you don’t have Everything Bagel Seasoning, sprinkle a mix of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, and sea salt instead.

Storage

Wrap leftover bread tightly in plastic wrap and store it at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for 4 to 5 days. To refresh, warm slices in a toaster oven or microwave until heated through. You can also freeze the bread wrapped in foil for up to 3 months; thaw at room temperature before reheating.

FAQs

Can I use a different type of beer?

Yes, you can use any beer you like, but lighter beers like lagers and ales work best for a balanced flavor and good rise. Avoid very dark or highly flavored beers as they may overpower the bread.

Can I make this bread without cheese?

Absolutely. You can omit the cheddar if you prefer a simpler herbed beer bread. The loaf will still be delicious with the herb and seasoning mix.

  • The bread is best eaten fresh but can be stored wrapped in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Use a light or amber beer for best flavor results; stout or heavy beers may alter the taste.
